Pakistan holds a world-class mineral resource base, including copper, gold, rock salt, chromite, iron ore, dimension stones, gemstones, and other critical minerals, much of it still untapped. This session examines how the country can move beyond raw resource discovery toward high-value industrialization, positioning its mineral sector as a driver of sovereign wealth and long-term economic transformation.
Zahid Maqsood Sheikh will structure the discussion around four areas: understanding Pakistan's mineral potential and resource base; investment and industrial pathways for moving from extraction toward processing, refining, value addition, and export manufacturing; the role of technology, including AI/ML, geophysics, remote sensing, automation, and digital twins, in modern mining transformation; and strategies for building a globally competitive, ESG-focused mineral economy. The session is open to students, investors, policymakers, and anyone interested in Pakistan's mineral and industrial future.
This session will be held online via Google Meet on Tuesday, 8 September 2026 at 2:00 PM (PKT).
